The truth is most domestic locks do not use 'security keys' they just use the modern coded locks that...

The ULTImate standard that other 3-star anti-snap locks want but don’t get. This is the rigours of the TS007 3-star but with added aggression, and tested by an MLA locksmith. The tester is allowed more access around the lock, more tools, freedom to break the material surrounding the lock and the ability to pause the clock to consider a different tack – Ultion will also be tested to this standard.

From the snapping tests I have done on this lock it performs just as good as Avocet ABS. Both have a sacrificial cut about 10mm back from the front of the lock, both have a second pre determined sacrificial section right in front of the cam. Both lock the cam once the cylinder is broken on the second sacrificial part blocking access to the gearbox. So from a snapping point of view they both offer exactly the same levels of security.

Premium high security branded front door locks such as Yale Superior, Magnum, Cisa, Iseo, Garrison and Mul-T-Lock give you a key code card to record a key cutting number for your lock (If you have lost the key code card we still may be able to help if you email us a clear image - See Section below). However many of the standard and lower security brands do not record any key numbers and these can not be cut to code.

Only a small handful of window locks use code series keys. If your lock does have a key number it will only be stamped on the key. If there is no number please send us a photo of an existing key or a up close image of the handle, so we can identify what key you require.

Personally I will now only offer Brisant anti snap locks, I buy all my cylinders from them now as its like a one stop cylinder shop. I buy the cheap bog standard cylinders from them, Brisant E as a mid range anti snap for customers who want a good anti snap lock but don’t want to pay a lot of money and I have been using Yale AS platinum 3 star from Brisant as well but now I will 100% be swapping over to Ultion as my top of the range option for customers. The Brisant Ultion has finally achieved TS007 3 star and sold secure diamond standard. As far as I’m aware there is only one other lock which has achieved sold secure diamond and that’s the Avocet ABS. Both the ABS and the Ultion were designed by Steve Stewart so that’s quite an achievement being the only person to ever design a lock that has got through the diamond test. Since there’s only the Ultion and ABS that have managed to get the Sold Secure Diamond accreditation this post will be a little bit of a comparison between the two locks.

Meaning a burglar will not only have to drill through the first two in the sacrificial section of the cylinder, but then, if they want to snap the lock, they'll have to try and drill through 8 more anti-drill pins.

The Ultion is available in all sizes and also in modular form meaning you can make locks on the go. You can simply buy the separate halves of cylinder and put them together yourself to make any size you want. You can also break apart two full locks in an emergency and swap the halves around and then re key the locks to get the size you need if you need a particular size there and then and can’t wait for an order to be delivered.

When it detects attack, a hidden lock within the Ultion automatically engages, so that even when snapped twice nothing gets past it. Leaving a key on the inside of the lock won’t affect its performance either.

Should a burglary take place within 10 years from the point of installation and entry was acheived by snapping an Ultion lock, Ultion will pay you £1000. To activate your guarantee just complete this registration form within 28 days of installation.

From the snapping tests I have done on this lock it performs just as good as Avocet ABS. With Ultion the keys are as sophisticated as the locks – a high security lock deserves a high security key – all Ultion Keys are coded and as the manufacture holds the codes only they or their designated exclusive suppliers such as us can furnish you with extras – your local guy cannot cut them.

We know how important it is that you always have a lock to suit every eventuality, but equally important is the overwhelming amount of cash tied up in van stock. That’s why Ultion has a clever dual-colour design – cutting the amount of stock you need in half. And then, by putting the unbeaten security features in both sides of the lock you halve your stock again not having to buy and carry ‘handed’ anti-snap locks.

Strawberry on Black is the most popular colour combination bought by homeowners in Keycap’s first month on sale. Launched at the end of July, Ultion’s Keycap is a funky, brightly coloured cap that snaps onto Ultion keys so they’re easy to identify and personalise. Ultion, the high security cylinder door lock from Brisant Secure, has created a landslide in the door industry because it’s a tool that sells doors.

The Ultion lock has been tested to the needs of the British Standard TS007 3 star standard, without having to be bolstered with an expensive high security handle. But these are not ordinary keycaps – these are key caps for the keys that operate what is recognised by the industry as currently the most secure lock available for domestic properties – notably the Ultion lock – the lock which has been fitted as standard to all Doors for the last twelve months. Now you can coordinate and colour code your keys to match every Ultion door in your home by simply slipping the key cap over the end of your Ultion key.

One thing we need to hope for with Ultion is that the prices are not screwed down online like they are with some locks. Brisant has always used “locks for locksmiths” as there slogan. That’s locks for locksmiths to make money on though as well as them being locksmith friendly. Some of the top quality anti snaps are so hard to sell to customers now due to them being sold so cheaply online and sometimes cheaper than we can buy them from trade suppliers! This means we can’t make a mark up on the locks at all and when you give a customer a price including labour they run a mile claiming they can get the lock themselves at half the price! Lets hope this doesn’t happen to Ultion!

The Ultion is a dimple lock but doesn’t come with a key registration card. The key number is stamped onto the key head instead. Like all of the Brisant range of locks the Ultion is a non handed dual colour lock meaning its very easy to stock. According to Steve it means carrying 75% less stock than the Avocet ABS. To create a key using the key number that operates all of Ultion's 11 pins the key number is decoded using an encrypted security algorithm. Licensed Ultion Key Centres have access to this decoding algorithm. Once decoded the precise indentations can be cut using specialist machines with dedicated tooling to exactly the right depth, in exactly the right position, on both sides of your key.

Anti drill pins have featured in existing high end locks for a while. Ultion however has 6, in both sides of the body (because it is non-handed!). So the burglar meets the first two in the sacrificial section of the cylinder. But if he decides to snap the lock first then go for the drill he’ll find his drill bit fighting against 4 more anti-drill pins. In the plug itself is a further 8 (each side of course) and two anti drill plates (yes... each side!)

Pinning up an Ultion lock is super-simple. Especially with our off the shelf pinning kit and tools. Our locksmith customers enter the keycode into the log in section of this website, that automatically delivers the pins required. Watch the video to see for yourself.

From the snapping tests I have done on this lock it performs just as good as Avocet ABS. Both have a sacrificial cut about 10mm back from the front of the lock, both have a second pre determined sacrificial section right in front of the cam. Both lock the cam once the cylinder is broken on the second sacrificial part blocking access to the gearbox. So from a snapping point of view they both offer exactly the same levels of security.

The Brisant Ultion has finally achieved TS007 3 star and sold secure diamond standard. As far as I’m aware there is only one other lock which has achieved sold secure diamond and that’s the Avocet ABS. Both the ABS and the Ultion were designed by Steve Stewart so that’s quite an achievement being the only person to ever design a lock that has got through the diamond test. Since there’s only the Ultion and ABS that have managed to get the Sold Secure Diamond accreditation this post will be a little bit of a comparison between the two locks.

In the same way as all Brisant locks, you can manipulate, build, switch, and duplicate Ultion locks on site. You don’t have to make return visit when you have fetched or even ordered the right lock. Ultion is as friendly to the locksmith as it nasty to the intruder.

The Ultion is a dimple lock but doesn’t come with a key registration card. The key number is stamped onto the key head instead. Like all of the Brisant range of locks the Ultion is a non handed dual colour lock meaning its very easy to stock. According to Steve it means carrying 75% less stock than the Avocet ABS. For example say you wanted to stock an ABS 40×50 in the van you would need,

The most talked differences are the type of plastic; ABS and PBT. In general, PBT is seen as superior over ABS keycaps, because it’s stiffer, durable (just don’t hit it with a hammer), stays true in color and doesn’t develop a shine effect over time.
