But these are not ordinary keycaps – these are key caps for the keys that operate what is recognised by the industry as currently the most secure lock available for domestic properties – notably the Ultion lock – the lock which has been fitted as standard to all Doors for the last twelve months. We all need to make a stand against this rapidly increasing problem! I like to give as much information to help educate people on the importance of security and I feel that hiding such details and then charging a payment for my knowledge can be just as bad as the person committing the robbery, when in fact most of the knowledge can be common sense.
I have been fortunate enough to see the Brisant Ultion quite a lot at different stages of the design process and have tested quite a lot with Steve, snapping, bumping and picking so I know quite a lot about the lock. Although I know Steve this is a completely impartial review based on what I’ve and learned as I’ve seen the lock being developed. When I first ever met Steve he told me about his plans to make “locks for locksmiths” and make Brisants full range of locks locksmith friendly. The aim was to make good quality locks that were easier for local locksmiths to stock and pin up themselves. They seem to have definitely achieved this but the only thing missing was a top of the range cylinder 3 star cylinder, until now!

The ULTImate standard that other 3-star anti-snap locks want but don’t get. This is the rigours of the TS007 3-star but with added aggression, and tested by an MLA locksmith. The tester is allowed more access around the lock, more tools, freedom to break the material surrounding the lock and the ability to pause the clock to consider a different tack – Ultion will also be tested to this standard.

We know how important it is that you always have a lock to suit every eventuality, but equally important is the overwhelming amount of cash tied up in van stock. That’s why Ultion has a clever dual-colour design – cutting the amount of stock you need in half. And then, by putting the unbeaten security features in both sides of the lock you halve your stock again not having to buy and carry ‘handed’ anti-snap locks.
Euro cylinders are used in the vast majority of double glazed doors, french doors and patio doors they are used to secure the door's multi point locking system.Cylinder door locks are not difficult to replace if you have basic DIY skills, you only need two measurements.Your cylinder locks should be as flush as possible with the handles, maximum projection is 5mm - if you current lock sticks out by more than 5mm either side of the hanldes then choose a smaller size....

The most talked differences are the type of plastic; ABS and PBT. In general, PBT is seen as superior over ABS keycaps, because it’s stiffer, durable (just don’t hit it with a hammer), stays true in color and doesn’t develop a shine effect over time. Take a look at your keyboard, most likely you’ll find some glossy keys.
Normal, handed anti-snap locks feature a single sacrificial section and focus on strength to make snapping harder. Except the strength is never enough to withstand the force leveraged from a burglar's mole grips. On each end of an Ultion cylinder there are two sacrificial elements, each designed to snap with relative ease, but more importantly in exactly the right place. When snapped the central cam is directly and independently locked – not to an attackable internal plug.
